Encouraging MSMEs to Improve, Dekranasda Festival 2024 is held

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Efforts to promote and introduce Malang City’s creative economy products, especially the work of Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to a wider audience continue to be strengthened. In support of this initiative, the Malang City Dekranasda together with the Malang City Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office (Diskopindag) organized the Dekranasda Festival 2024 at Alun Alun Merdeka, Saturday (29/6/2024).

The Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat MM, who was present with the Acting Chairperson of the Malang City Dekranasda, Dra. H. Hanik Andriani Wahyu Hidayat, said that this was a strategic step taken by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) with a collaborative and aspirational scheme, one of which was with the Malang City Dekranasda in encouraging the expansion of market access and preparing craftsmen with Malang MSMEs to upgrade.

“Diskopindag has taken this step as well. Dekranasda has the same task regarding the development of MSMEs and SMEs in Malang City. Dekranasda Festival is a form of support for government programs, one of which is for MSMEs to upgrade,” Wahyu explained.

The 2024 Dekranasda Festival presented 50 booths of Malang City MSMEs and was enlivened by berkebaya gymnastics, fashion shows and training from SMEs of Malang City craft products. Furthermore, the launch of Malangan Batik added a special impression to the Dekranasda Festival 2024 moment.

“Then related to Malangan batik, the design from Mas Wawan which was launched earlier is a form of display from Malang City Hall and several Malang City icons which are realized in batik. I have also used this batik several times at national level events, and received praise,” explained the number one person in Malang City Government when met after opening the Dekranasda Festival 2024 event.

The Malangan batik presents the beauty of batik wastra through the icons of Malang City including Malang City Hall, monument and lotus. The patterns and images on batik that are full of stories by Mr. Kristiawan from Lembayung Batik Studio symbolize the protection and warmth of the people of Malang.

“Hopefully, this launching will establish batik as the identity of Malang City so that it can be known by the public, both in East Java and national scale. There was also a collaboration signed earlier. Therefore, in order to raise and improve the quality of craftsmen, we are working with vocational training at Malang State University. We hope that there will be assistance and will also be able to provide directions so that our MSMEs and SMEs can upgrade,” he added.

Local wisdom embedded in culture and tradition in Malang City has an important role in building the identity of a creative and innovative Malang City. The City Government together with the Malang City Dekranasda are committed to continuing to be present for craftsmen from upstream to downstream to be more advanced. The current era sees continued strengthening of collaboration and synergy to safeguard, develop craft products, and develop and promote SMEs and MSME products.

“As I have said, Malang City MSMEs have been tested. That with all kinds of shocks and challenges at this time, especially like during the pandemic, they can still exist. So I mobilize MSMEs and out of the large number, there are 21 thousand that have been curated and there are still 60 thousand that have not. Then to be able to accelerate yesterday we also launched Sabahat UMKM so that our MSMEs can upgrade,” he concluded. (yul/yon)
