Malang City Government Encourages Sukun Racket Industry to Grow Bigger

Sukun (malangkota.go.id) – The movement of racket micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) located in Bandungrejosari Village, Sukun Subdistrict, Malang City is able to attract the national market. Thanks to this, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) designated Malang City as one of the national badminton racket producer cities. This was revealed by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM during a visit to the Racket Industry Center in Bandungrejosari Village, Saturday (22/6/2024).

Capturing this potential, Wahyu said that the City Government (Pemkot) of Malang is trying to be swift in providing the assistance needed to develop its products. Among them is the provision of assistance in the form of two production machines through the Office of Cooperatives, Industry and Trade (Diskopindag). “I see that there is already a good collaboration with Diskopindag, which provides assistance in the form of two machines, one for making chicken eyes and the other for tightening racket strings,” he said.

Not only facility assistance, Wahyu said that in the future he had asked the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) to be able to utilize rackets produced by local Malang City MSMEs for coaching at the beginner level in elementary schools in Malang City. Of course, with the terms and conditions that apply in terms of procurement of goods and services, for which training has also been provided by Diskopindag.

This reflects the unbroken chain of circles carried out by the City Government of Malang in terms of advancing local MSMEs, starting from providing facilities, training, to marketing, which of course can support the quality of MSME production itself. In addition to the City Government of Malang, The Ministry of Youth and Sports also provided assistance, which plans to provide marketing training to craftsmen on June 27 to increase the sales reach of the rackets.

“Now there is a circle that we really have to make, so that all can be felt by MSMEs and support our goal of making Malang City MSMEs upgrade,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bandungrejosari Badminton Racket Crafters Association, Aji Sulistyo Handoko, said that badminton racket MSMEs in Bandungrejosari can produce around 300 rackets a day with a total of ten workers. Currently, the racket production has been marketed online and is also available in various sports stores in various cities in Indonesia.

In the future, Aji hopes that the Malang City Government can continue to assist with facility maintenance in the future. “Hopefully we can be given assistance in the form of a carbon machine, which will make the quality of our rackets even superior,” he concluded. (iu/yn)
