Menparekraf Supports the Development of Tourism and Creative Economy in Malang City

Malang City – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) and Head of the Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kabaparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, has in fact become enthralled with Malang City. Not just because of the breathtaking scenery, but also because of its creative potential.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy also highly appreciates the achievements of Malang City, which has won the title of Best City I National Level Regional Development Award (PPD) from the Ministry of National Development Planning / National Development Planning Agency.

“When I first arrived here, I noticed something unique about this place. I strolled along the river and went to the market, where I observed a highly engaged community. The fact that the initiative we are supporting for ADWI 2022 has yielded outcomes on a national scale makes me very happy. In addition, I also encourage this to be able to advance at the international level by participating in various tourist village competitions at the ASEAN, Asian, and global levels in the future,” he remarked inspiringly.

According to Minister Sandiaga, planning different events is one way to build tourism and extend visitors’ stays. He also encouraged Malang City Government to hold various activities to increase visits in Malang City, such as through sports tourism events. “Malang needs to host world-class events in a variety of genres, including sports, cultural arts, music, movies, or other subsectors, especially since it is supported by the MCC. It’s time for us to organize world-class events,” he concluded.

Following the Menparekraf’s instruction, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM stated that Malang City has fostering the growth of sports tourism. “Sport tourism has become our focus. Thus, Malang City tourism will benefit from this sport tourism. We will also host the IX East Java Prov in 2025, which will certainly boost our sports tourism,” he added.

“We also have the MCC which is a place to develop 17 creative economy subsectors in Malang City. Our goal is to become a UNESCO World Creative City by 2025, so hopefully we can continue to enhance the facilities. We certainly hope that the Minister will support us,” Wahyu concluded.
