Promoting Beti Dewi, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Visits Kayutangan
Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan received another visit from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf)/Badan Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Baparekraf) RI, Sunday (28/7/2024). Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno also attended the event which was a series of Tourism Village Promotion activities ‘Beli Kreatif Desa Wisata’ (Beti Dewi), meaning ‘Buy Creative Tourism Village’, organized by the Directorate of Nusantara Tourism Marketing Kemenparekraf on July 27-28, 2024.

According to Minister Sandiaga, there is a noticeable rise in foreign visitors at the moment, surpassing the target number. Kemenparekraf also undertakes a number of promotional initiatives to develop high-quality, sustainable tourism in an effort to preserve and grow the number of visitor visits.
“We are emphasizing not just quantity but also duration of stay and expenditure in the local economy.” We put in a lot of effort to attract domestic travelers if the number of foreign visitors has exceeded the target number. Our target for 2024 is 1.2 to 1.5 billion domestic tourist movements. The Beti Dewi program is one way to encourage the movement of domestic tourists,” he explained.
Minister Sandiaga gave an example of Malang City, citing the city’s popularity among domestic travelers due to Kayutangan heritage tourism, “Malang City is always sold out every vacation, and now Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan has more than 20 thousand visits per month. This really helps achieve the target of domestic tourists. And for Malang City there are no obstacles, very good,” he continued to appreciate.
On the other hand, Minister Sandiaga did not deny that tourist visits in several regions, including Eastern Indonesia and Sumatra, were still experiencing obstacles in achieving tourist visits, one of which was due to being the relatively high cost of tickets. “We are exploring this, our goal is to see a 10 percent decrease in ticket prices,” he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for making Malang City, especially in Kayutangan, the location for organizing assistance for tourist villages. “We hope that this activity will offer human resource training to tourism village managers and pokdarwis,enabling them to enhance the marketing of diverse tourism opportunities in their respective regions, one of which is by preparing tour packages,” he said.
Wahyu disclosed that Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan plays a major factor to attract tourists’ visits in Malang City’s tourism industry. In addition, Kayutangan has been instrumental in helping Malang City win the Best City I National Level Regional Development Award (PPD). This achievement would not have been possible without the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s support in developing Kayutangan into an attractive and sustainable artificial tourism.
In addition, this event also became a mini showcase for the 10 Best Tourism Villages in East Java, namely Ketapanrame Tourism Village, Mojokerto Regency; Semen Tourism Village, Blitar Regency; Purwodadi Tourism Village (Bowele) Malang Regency; Lon Malang Tourism Village, Sampang Regency; Sumberwringin Tourism Village, Bondowoso Regency; Sanankerto Tourism Village Turen Malang Regency; Wonokitri Tourism Village, Pasuruan Regency; Bejijing Tourism Village, Mojokerto Regency; Pandean Tourism Village, Trenggalek Regency; and of course Kajoetangan Heritage Village, Malang City. The event, which was attended by pokdarwis and several regional tourism stakeholders, the East Java Creative Economy Movement (Gekraf), various online travel agents as well as other tourism organizations, was also featured an exhibition of top-notch goods from the top ten tourist villages in East Java.
